Three Years as Great Qin's Military Inspector, and the Entire Court of Corrupt Officials Is Terrified

After the First Emperor died at Shaqiu, the eunuch Zhao Gao colluded with Chancellor Li Si and Prince Huhai to alter the imperial edict and falsely order the crown prince, Fusu, to take his own life.

However, when the messenger carrying the decree arrived in Jiuyuan Commandery, he was so stunned by what he saw that he could barely believe his eyes.

A towering city stood on the northern bank of the great river. Within its walls lay broad, level land, neatly arranged houses, fertile fields, and beautiful ponds. Mulberry trees and bamboo grew in front of and behind the houses, and plants covered the land.

Country lanes crisscrossed the area, while the crowing of roosters and barking of dogs rose one after another. Commoners in strange clothes came and went among the fields, tending their crops. The old and the young lived at ease, sharing in a peaceful, happy life.

Imperial messenger: I just got lost. I don't have an imperial decree.

Zhao Gao: How about moving the capital to Jiuyuan? That's the real heart of Qin.

Li Si: His Majesty's final edict appoints Fusu as Crown Prince. The prince should return to Xianyang to preside over the state funeral.

Huhai: I support my elder brother inheriting the throne. Anyone who disagrees can answer to me!

The surviving nobles of the Six Kingdoms: Without the common people to support our rebellion, we'd better settle down and live comfortably as rich men.
