Synopsis

Li Cunxu, a famed general of the Later Tang, was a peerless martial artist, decisive and ruthless in battle, and undefeated in a lifetime of warfare. He founded the Later Tang regime, yet his fate was still destined to end in tragedy and ruin. Ouyang Xiu described him this way: “At the height of his power, not a single hero under heaven could rival him. But when his fortunes waned, a few dozen actors brought him to ruin; he died, his dynasty fell, and the world laughed at him.” Mao Zedong also once praised Li Cunxu: “If you have a son, let him be like Li Yazi.”

Alas, even a lifelong hero could not escape a tragic fate. Xiang Yu, the Hegemon-King, had the strength to uproot mountains and the might to overshadow the world, yet in the end he took his own life by the Wu River. Lü Bu was the bravest warrior of the Three Armies, unmatched by anyone, but he too could not escape the calamity of White Gate Tower.

Read my humble work closely, and it is not hard to see that Li Cunxu, a peerless god of war, had earned great merit throughout his life, only to bring about his own downfall.

Looking for Historical Fiction with No System and No Excessive Invention

"My Grandfather Is Zhu Yuanzhang" is a great example. I like power-struggle stories, and all of Wu Laolang’s books are great, like "Three Kingdoms: A Good Kid". No womanizers, and don’t give the female lead too much screen time. Absolutely no System stories, no wish-fulfillment stories, and no creator-type stories.

Three Kingdoms, Warring States, either is fine. I’m out of novels to read: looking for stories where historical generals are summoned and characters from different eras get mixed in.
