Loving You Is the Quietest Thing I Say

At a math competition, Gu Yanzhi caught You Qing’s eye, and from then on, she couldn’t stop thinking about him. She transferred schools and became his deskmate, then his neighbor. In their final mock exam of senior year, You Qing, who had always ranked first, fell to second place. When Gu Yanzhi asked why, she didn’t answer. Two years later, they met again, and she had become his upperclassman.

When the clock struck twelve, Gu Yanzhi confessed to her. “Qingqing, I’ve liked you for a long time. If I could enter your dreams and confess to you, I’d come every night, then do the things I’ve been wanting to do.”

She replied, “You’re a book I could never tire of reading. I’d gladly turn your pages slowly, cherishing every word and taking every sentence to heart. You’re the breeze that carries the first hint of flowers in spring, and I’m willing to follow in your footsteps, losing myself along the way. Gu, I’ve seen the river of stars hanging upside down on a summer night, but you’re the only star I love.”

What Gu Yanzhi longed for wasn’t just the sunshine. He wanted nothing more than to claim the sun for himself.
