The Vastness Continent is boundless. Only the Central Plains are exceptionally rich and fertile, drawing nearly nine-tenths of the world's population. The borderlands to the east, south, west, and north are full of treacherous mountains and waters, fierce birds and beasts, and poisonous miasma. One careless step can leave you without so much as a corpse. Though the Vastness Continent has existed for billions of years, no one has ever discovered where its borders lie. Even so, people have continued to explore the unknown, generation after generation.
Human strength has its limits, and the will of Heaven cannot be defied. Ordinary people live no more than a hundred years. Compared with other living species, their disadvantage in strength and lifespan is made up for by their intelligence. Though strange beasts may live for centuries, people of ambition persevere. Generation after generation, the clever and talented have pursued immortality. To this day, no one knows whether true immortality exists, but some who cultivate the Dao have grasped the mysteries of Heaven and Earth. In mortal bodies, they wield immense power, and with secret arts and treasures, they can shake Heaven and Earth, move mountains, and fill seas. Some are even said to have lived for millions of years. Yet these are only legends. Immortality is a distant dream for humankind, but the power gained through cultivation, and the authority that comes with it, have gradually become the goals of many. Thus, conflict and upheaval became the world's defining theme. Those with ability established their own kingdoms; those without saw their kingdoms fall and their lands divided.
As the saying goes, a great realm that has long been divided must unite, and one that has long been united must divide. The Vastness Continent has seen its share of splendor through cycles of division and reunification.
