A Complete Guide to the Four Pillars of Destiny

The Truth About Life

What is the meaning of life? What is the value of living? Surely these are questions everyone wants answered. Why are we born, and why do we die? Life takes us through many stages. When the road is smooth, life is blessed; when it is rough, life brings misfortune. So even a wonderful life is filled with worries, helplessness, and pain. Why must it be this way? What is the truth about life?

I’ve been practicing divination for many years and have published several books. Yet my understanding of the profound principles of fate is still like peering through a narrow tube at a vast world. Even so, I have unwavering faith in life and the art of divination.

Life is about nothing more than fame, wealth, and status, taking a wife and having children. These are the games of life that every ordinary person clings to and refuses to let go of until death. Buddhism calls this “attachment to self.” It is this attachment that gives rise to the good and bad fortune people experience. Before becoming a Buddha, why did the Buddha himself suffer great calamities and hardships? It was only after attaining profound enlightenment that he escaped the Three Realms and transcended the Five Elements, free from good or bad fortune and regret. But people remain within the Five Elements and the Three Realms, and as long as they retain this consciousness of “attachment to self,” they can never escape the forces of good and bad fortune, which is to say, their fate.

After many years of life’s trials, my own “attachment to self” has lost the sharp edges it once had. And through Buddhist teachings, I’ve come to understand a little: I am the one in control, so I can create. Yet as I create, energies both good and bad surround me. If I accept those energies and distinguish between the good and the bad, I can create well.
