When Ruan Qiu wakes up, she finds herself inside a period novel she once read, as the early-deceased mother of the story’s villain. The villain grows up without guidance and becomes extremely selfish and twisted. Later, after the novel’s heroine saves him, he devotes himself to her. But a villain is still a villain: he can’t defeat the male lead and ends up dying a miserable death.
Ruan Qiu looks at the three children before her and falls into deep thought.
The book says the eldest son, Chen Shen, is twisted and heartless; the second son, Chen Kuan, is carefree and painfully oblivious; and the youngest, Chen Qian, is unsophisticated and plagued by low self-esteem. In the end, the eldest is killed, the second becomes a habitual con artist and goes to prison, and the youngest is sold off to a widower by Grandma Chen as soon as she comes of age, where she lives a miserable life.
Now that Ruan Qiu is here, she will change their lives and outwit the Chen family. As for that practically useless husband of hers, if you won’t behave, I’ll divorce you all the same!
Ever since Chen Xu became self-aware, he has known he is adopted by the Chen family. One day, after he saves Ruan Qiu, the two marry first and fall in love later. But after their youngest daughter is born, Ruan Qiu’s personality changes drastically, and she no longer loves him. He thinks the light in his life has gone out, and from then on, he drifts through life without purpose.
