[Bao’er’s Life]
In an ordinary family, every day brings worries about putting food on the table.
Bao’er is a girl born into an ordinary family. She lives in a remote mountain village, and both her parents are the second-born in their families. People say the eldest is cherished and the youngest is spoiled, leaving the one in the middle out of luck.
Bao’er’s parents were just like that.
But Bao’er thinks she has a happy life. Her parents love each other, and although boys are generally favored over girls in the countryside, she was not neglected after her younger brother was born.
You can tell from her name: Bao’er was not the name she was given at birth. Her grandmother chose her original name, Baodi, which means “bringing home a younger brother.”
Her misfortune probably began when she got married...
But fortunately, her husband can still be taught a thing or two!
