After a drunken night, modern young man Li Kuan awakens in the Zhenguan era, inhabiting the body of Li Kuan, Prince of Chu, the second son of Emperor Taizong of Tang, Li Shimin.

Adopted out as a child, he seems to be nothing more than an idle prince, yet he is caught in the deadly game of nine princes vying for the throne.

Crown Prince Li Chengqian can barely hide his ambition; Prince of Wei Li Tai is brilliant and favored; Prince of Wu Li Ke is valiant, just like his father; and Prince of Jin Li Zhi plays the pig to eat the tiger… Each prince has his own agenda, powerful clans stir beneath the surface of the court, and the bloody past of the Xuanwu Gate Incident is still painfully fresh.

He has no System or golden finger, only a head full of historical knowledge from the future.

He uses dreams from the “ancestral spirits” to dispel suspicions about his identity, pioneers wound cleaning and suturing to revolutionize Tang medicine, navigates his relationships with Li Shimin, Empress Zhangsun, and the Retired Emperor Li Yuan, and befriends scions of powerful families such as Fang Yiai, Du He, and Cheng Chumo.

He has no desire to fight for the throne, yet is drawn into the vortex at every turn.

He escapes a deadly plot by the Eastern Palace’s remaining secret guards, foils the schemes of powerful clans, wins over civil officials and mighty generals, and protects his beloved Qin Yingxue.

Will he live as a carefree prince, roaming the land, or carve out a path to the throne of his own?

Among the nine princes of Zhenguan, brothers turn against one another. Watch Li Kuan break the deadlock and rewrite the Tang dynasty’s destined fate!
