This is a world after a nuclear war that wiped out civilization. Humanity has split into two factions. Those who survived on the surface and resisted nuclear radiation through generations of reproduction have become mutants, their bodies changed. Others live underground, relying on technology left over from before the apocalypse to escape the radiation. The animals and plants on the surface have mutated as well. The towering cities that once stood everywhere have disappeared, replaced by a world ruled by mutated beasts. Humanity's survival hangs by a thread, and now mechs have emerged. They are used to defend against the constant attacks of mutated beasts, and have also become formidable weapons in the war between the surface and underground factions.
