The sky is vaster than the sea, and the human heart is vaster than the sky. So what is vaster than the human heart? The Dao. As the saying goes, "The Great Dao has fifty principles, Heaven derives forty-nine, and one escapes." The human heart may find the one that escapes, but it cannot grasp the forty-nine derived by Heaven. Even when it does grasp them, it only thinks it has, and grasps them only in part. Thus, compared with the Great Dao, the human heart is like a drop of water splashed up from the sea. Yet that drop is so crystal clear, and longs so greatly to fly beyond the sea, beyond the universe...
