She and I first met in kindergarten. A century-long love story, like that of childhood sweethearts, began when our eyes met. Later, we met again in elementary school. In middle school, beneath the evening sun, we discovered how we felt about each other. In high school, we shared our goals and plans for the future. As we headed off to college, we confessed what was in our hearts. At college, we moved in together and worked hard side by side. After graduation, we searched for jobs and earned a living together. At our wedding, we pledged ourselves to each other for life. When we had a child, we became a family. When our child grew up, we went out and explored the world together. In old age, we took walks side by side.
We spent our whole lives together.
When we died, our coffins were buried together.
The upright gravestone read:
A love that began when we were five or six, born in childhood and ending only in death. It spanned a century and was etched into our hearts forever.
