"Stupid Flower" is Tie Ning's fourth novel, with more than 500,000 words in total. Based on the history of nearly fifty years from the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China to the mid-1940s, with the daily life of a small village in the central Hebei Plain as the scene, and with the military experience of Xiang Xi, a representative figure of the Xiang family, as the main line, this book writes about the survival wisdom and light of life of ordinary people in difficult times. The narrative method adopts the method of "local chronicle", grafting together historical fragments, rural folk customs, and ethical order, trying to reveal the gradual collapse of farming civilization under external forces from typical characters and typical environments, as well as the social pain relief in the process of modernization.
