Madame Bovary

I think this book is amazing! Flaubert described the protagonist's emotions and inner world with great detail, making me seem to feel Madame Bovary's struggles and contradictions. Li Jianwu's translation is also excellent, and the writing is beautiful and smooth. I especially like the character of Madame Bovary. Although she made mistakes in pursuing love, her courage and desire for freedom are still very admirable. Flaubert is really a great writer and this book is definitely worth reading!
Emma, you are lonely and not free. Your mind is liberated, but your soul is trapped in the body. All your unwillingness, crying, lamentation, and resentment are confined to this helpless, prison-like situation. I feel sorry for you. You thought marriage could help you escape the father who controlled you, but Charlie is an unromantic man with a very poor spiritual world. No one understands your unwillingness and your desires. You thought you escaped, but you ended up in another prison. This time you want to escape again, but Leon is not as elegant and interesting as you thought. He is cowardly and has low self-esteem. From the beginning to the end, the only person who is as beautiful and bright as a flower is you. You are not frivolous, you are rich in beauty and vitality, and you are colorful because of desire and longing.
I have always heard about the great reputation of this book, so I went to read it. First of all, the author's writing skills are very good, the description of the environment is delicate and beautiful, and the psychological portrayal of the characters is also meticulous and excellent. During the reading process, I sometimes understood Emma's sadness, felt sad that her request for help was in vain, and sometimes felt sorry for her. She was angry because of her behavior and thoughts, but after reading the whole book, I couldn't bear to criticize her. She was not a simple and frivolous woman, and she also struggled in her heart. She went to the church to ask for help but was sent away, so she looked for a way out on her own and pursued what she thought was love, but ended up on the road of no return. But I always feel that Emma still has a way out. Let go of the so-called love, confess to Charlie, sell the furniture and pay off the debt and live an honest life. How can someone like Emma be willing to live an ordinary life with the incomprehensible Charlie? And Lele, this cunning businessman and evil capitalist, makes me want to go in and slap him twice!
This is the most plainly translated book. The ending of the Bovary family is an ultimate tragedy, especially the part where Bovary died quietly. What should little Bert do? It makes people unable to calm down for a long time.
Even though it's just love between you and me, you can still read on.
The content is exciting and worth reading!
After reading this book, I feel that loving yourself is the most important thing, and let the rest take its course!
