This is actually my second time reading it. I read it once many years ago and I thought it was pretty good at the time. It was a long and sweet story. Perhaps due to the influence of the heroine novel, when I first read it, I felt that the character of Xie Ning was not strong enough or outstanding. I was more moved by the fact that the emperor loved her so much that he dismissed the harem. During the second playthrough, the impression was much better. In a harem environment where everyone is cheating and begging for supremacy, it is not easy for Xie Ning to remain kind. This is the most admirable thing. The trivial daily life and delicate brushstrokes make the whole story more down-to-earth and worth reading.
