But I’ve Waited Years for You

[Youthful school romance + mutual pining + HE + reunion after years apart + two top students]

“Spring comes, and flowers bloom like brocade; summer nears, and leaves form a canopy.”

I waited for so many years because of the words “Wait for me” in 2017.

Lin Rujin is ill, and the hospital balcony has become her favorite place to sit. She often gazes outside, remembering Gu Chaozhou, who died before her eyes back then. Gu Chaozhou said, “Rujin, I’ll never get to see the Eiffel Tower in Paris. Go see it for me.”

Years later, on the day they meet again, Ye Chengwei takes Lin Rujin’s hand. “Lin Rujin, let’s run away.”

Lin Rujin turns back. “Why?”

Ye Chengwei’s eyes curve into a smile as he looks out the window. “Because the weather is so nice today.”
