Yue Qiushui was born into an ordinary family, but a violent storm and crashing thunder on the day of her birth frightened her mother to death. Her father blamed her and nearly killed her by abandoning her in the countryside.
Yet one night, her father and the neighbors were struck down by a violent storm and lightning. Yue Qiushui, who should have died, was saved by a blind old woman whose entire body was covered in sores.
The old woman took pity on Yue Qiushui, seeing how much their tragic pasts had in common, and adopted her. Sixteen years later, Yue Qiushui had grown up, while the old woman was nearing the end of her life. On her deathbed, she revealed her entire estate and the secrets of their pasts. Only then did Yue Qiushui learn that the blind old woman had been a gifted disciple of the Maoshan immortality tradition, but a terrible mistake had left her plagued by misfortune.
When Yue Qiushui was born, not only did the ghosts wail at her door, but heavenly thunder also came to protect her. So she believed she, too, would become an outstanding disciple of the Maoshan tradition.
Unfortunately, that wasn’t what she wanted. After the blind old woman’s funeral, she made plans with her childhood friend to finish the education they had left incomplete. She had no idea that a mysterious paranormal case and a mysterious stranger would entangle her in a vast conspiracy!
With no other choice, she carefully planned each step, hoping to escape the strange cycle of life and death. But in the end, she discovered that she had unknowingly followed the path the blind old woman had laid out for her.
