Empress: The Great Xuan Empire

[Female-Protagonist-Centered Story, Some Romance but Not Much, Focused on Building a Career]

King Xuan is a foolish and tyrannical ruler, and the people are suffering.

Corrupt ministers hold power at court, while hostile barbarians threaten the borders.

Princess Ji Man, the sixth princess of Xuan, uses her wits to take control of the kingdom.

She recruits the worthy, introduces new reforms, and builds up her forces to unify the realm.

The Left Chancellor of Xuan kneels before Ji Man, lamenting:

"Those who produce are few, while those who squander are many. How can the affairs of the realm not be in danger?"

Ji Man raises her eyes, an overwhelming air of authority spreading around her.

"Then we will unify the realm and give the people a world of peace and justice."

She grips the long spear forged from meteoric iron.

Its tip glints coldly in the sunlight.

"Old friend, it has been a long time. I thought we would never meet again in this life, but someone has broken their oath.

In that case, follow me into battle and slay our enemies!"
