People born in China in the 1980s and 1990s came of age during an era of tremendous change, as the country’s economy developed rapidly and urbanization accelerated. In particular, those born in the countryside who moved to the cities to make a living grew up in simple, unspoiled villages and then had to survive in cities as dark and dangerous as forests.
As people at the bottom of society, when career and love cannot coexist, what should they choose? In an era of sweeping change, where should love and life go?
Love and life are like the two sides of a coin. You cannot separate them, but when one side faces up, the other must face down.
What hardships await those of us who leave the countryside for the city as we travel the rough and winding road of love?
Drawing on the author’s own experiences and those of friends, this series tells the stories of country folk who come to the city and their love lives. These stories reveal one small corner of a transformative era and chronicle the ordinary love stories and lives of everyday people, preserving little moments from the great current of history.
This book touched me very much. It tells the love story of rural people in the city. It is very real and touching. I particularly like the character of Wang Caixia. As a single mother, she lives a tenacious and hard-working life. This book made me see how difficult life is, and also made me cherish the people around me more.
Good-looking, true and perfect, sweet and optimistic like a human being, wonderful and perfect
