The Last Dynasty: the Qing Dynasty on the Eve of Revolution

When the Year of Xinhai arrived, there was no sign that this would be the last year of this iron-blooded empire. This year started with the singing and dancing of Empress Dowager Longyu's Longevity Festival (the tenth day of the first lunar month). However, at the end of the year, on December 25 (February 12, 1912), Longyu issued an edict to abdicate, and China's feudal regime ended. The sudden turn of history was unthinkable to most people at the time (including revolutionary leaders).
