"Change, change." Suddenly, a boy shouted in a loud voice. I couldn't help but take a step back sharply.
"What did you say?" I asked. "Can you help us?"
"Change, change." A girl said repeatedly.
"We're not from here!" Ben yelled. "We wanted to get out of here, but we couldn't find the way."
"Change, change." Another voice whispered.
"Please—answer!" I begged. "Can you help us?"
At this time, they shouted in unison: "Change, change." And they danced.
They maintained an encircling formation and moved to the right at a fast pace. They first raised one leg high and extended it to the right, then lowered the leg and kicked lightly. Step after step, just keep raising your legs and walking to the right.
Some kind of weird dance move.
"Change, change." They shouted in unison, "Change, change."
"Please - stop!" Ben and I begged together. "What are you doing? Are you trying to scare us?"
"Change, change." The dancing black figures loomed or appeared in the floating mist.
For a moment, the mist rose, and I noticed that they were dancing, holding hands tightly, forming an airtight circle.
Surround me and Ben in the center.
"Change, change," they shouted, taking a step and kicking, "Change, change."
"What are they doing?" Ben asked quietly, "Is it a game?"
I swallowed hard and replied, "I guess not."
The mist swelled again, sinking toward the grass and flowing elsewhere.
