Zhao Younai was born noble.
She is the great general who guards the State of Zhao, as well as its eldest legitimate princess!
Everyone addresses her with respect as Her Highness, the Grand Princess Who Guards the State!
Zhongli Xing is an emperor above all others.
Li Xing, the disciple of the great shaman of the Heavenly Sage Kingdom who cured her of her gu poison, is also the most exalted emperor in that kingdom. The world fears and reveres him.
When he is Li Xing,
Zhao Younai says, “What an ugly face.”
“Someone, fetch the madam of the brothel. How could she find such an ugly male courtesan to attend me?”
When he is Zhongli Xing,
“Such a handsome man, and not in my harem? What a waste.”
Legend says the Saintess will appear to save the world.
But in Zhao Younai’s eyes, if the Saintess truly appears, the world will fall into chaos.
“If the Saintess appears, I’ll kill her and put an end to everyone’s hopes.”
Later,
Zhongli Xing came to Zhao to search for the Saintess, and she nearly killed him in her residence.
When he was poisoned and his martial arts crippled, she disguised herself as a man to save and protect him, only because he was still useful to her.
Zhao Younai always thought Zhongli Xing didn’t know she was a woman. It was much, much later that she learned he had known all along. The moment she rescued him from Baijia Fort, he already knew that he was her.
