Crossing Mountains and Rivers: One Roar Shatters the Firmament

In the twenty-seventh year of the Jiakang era, Emperor Daxing passed away. That very night, Prince Ning rebelled, killed the crown prince, and detained the court officials and princes, holding them hostage at Yaohua Palace. Three days later, Prince Ning forged an edict and ascended the throne, naming his reign Yongjia. Far away at the border, Prince Jin carried out the Empress Dowager's decree and withdrew 250,000 elite soldiers from the Northern Garrison. Prince An of Taizhou also sent 100,000 troops from the Xichuan Garrison to crush Prince Ning. Six hundred thousand soldiers fought in the outskirts of the capital, and rivers of blood flowed. The Northern Di seized the chaos to join forces with the Western Yi and invade south. They breached the Jiameng Pass, slaughtering and looting all the way, leaving bones strewn across the fields and not a chicken's cry for a thousand miles. In its more than two hundred years of existence, the Great Xing Dynasty had never suffered such a human catastrophe. History remembers it as the Yongjia Tragedy.
