This book is one of the novella collections of Mo Yan, the winner of the 2012 Nobel Prize for Literature, and includes 3 works. "Red Ears": tells the story of Wang Shiqian, a son of a wealthy family in Bashan Town during the Republic of China. His growth and experience revolved around his unusually big ears. Not only the size of his ears, but also the height of his thoughts far exceeded those of his contemporaries. "The Woman Embracing Flowers": a strange story, a fable, and in Mo Yan's words "a story that is so romantic that it's almost life-or-death." It describes the story of a captain who encounters and gets entangled with a strange and charming woman when he returns to his hometown. "White Cotton": A novel specially written for Zhang Yimou's film and television adaptation after "Red Sorghum". It was later adapted onto the screen by Taiwanese filmmakers. The film of the same name starred Su Youpeng and Ning Ning. This is a legendary story that happened in the county town. Centered on Fang Biyu, a "female heroine" from a cotton processing plant, it tells the story of the love and hatred between young men and women in the cotton processing factory, and writes about the hot emotions and bitter fate wrapped in the snow-white cotton stacks.

The stories in this book are very interesting! I especially like "The Woman with Flowers", it feels like watching a mysterious movie. However, I kind of hate that weird woman, her appearance always makes people feel scared. In comparison, I prefer Fang Biyu in "White Cotton". She is like a white cotton, tough and pure. Generally speaking, Mo Yan's books are always so profound and endlessly memorable.
