Ace of Diamond: Remembering Half of You

A loss in the final game of his middle school career sparks Sawamura Eijun’s desire to become stronger.

After receiving an invitation from Seido, a prestigious baseball school in western Tokyo, Sawamura steps onto its grounds with his love for baseball and his longing to grow stronger.

Here, he meets new teammates: Miyuki Kazuya, a catcher with a nasty streak and a head full of schemes; Chris-senpai, gloomy on the surface but kindhearted within; Kuramochi-senpai, his mischievous dormmate; and Masuko-senpai, gentle, honest, and good-natured... as well as another “self” inside him.

He watches helplessly as pitchers from his year move up to the first string, sees Tanba-senpai, a former first-string starting pitcher, “evolve” once again, and witnesses his own glaring shortcomings on the field... The pressures crashing down on him like towering waves leave him lost and directionless.

He feels disheartened. His goal of “becoming the ace” seems to have moved another step out of reach.

Just as he hits a low point, another voice suddenly rings out in his mind, and Eijun formally meets his other “self.”

This is a being utterly unlike the boisterous, “hot-blooded crybaby” he is often called.

“He” is calm and gentle, with a meticulous mind, and calls himself Yuu.

Whether it is “his” composed personality, keen eye for detail, or precise understanding of people’s hearts, these are all things Eijun, the “original,” lacks.

And the formidable pitching and batting skills this creates are exactly what Eijun has always longed for.

So he asks the other half of his personality to teach him how to become stronger.

And so, the story of two half-personalities quietly unfolds around baseball.
