I Miss You in the Name of the Fading Flowers

The scene of their wedding had played out in She Shuyun’s mind more than a hundred times. He had imagined that one day he might marry her.

He had imagined giving her a wedding procession stretching ten miles and loving her faithfully for a lifetime. But in the end, the person she loved wasn’t him.

He had thought A Yu was still unmarried and had no betrothal, so he still had a chance.

But now, even his last shred of hope had vanished. There would never be anything between them again. What he had never possessed would never be his, and he would never get another chance.

Before, he could still draw on their childhood friendship to discuss poetry and books with her, recite verses beneath the moon, and admire plum blossoms in the snow.

But now she was the wife of a member of the imperial family, while he was merely one of the court officials. With his last shred of hope gone, he knew that from this moment on, they were destined to be apart.

No matter how reluctant he was to let go, he could do nothing about it.
