In the early Tang Dynasty, Su Mu, a young man from a mysterious organization outside the Great Wall, got involved in various disputes in the world in order to decipher the truth behind bizarre incidents. He participated in a chess game in an attempt to break the shackles, but he became increasingly involved in a deeper conspiracy.
The work combines martial arts suspense, power struggles, Taoism, Buddhism, gods and ghosts with a Cthulhu-style content setting, unfolding a fantasy and strange story of a heroic young man venturing into the frontier, with laughter and tears.
