The Art of Leadership in Chinese Strategy

“Command style” refers to the ability and will to unite soldiers under a common goal, a style that inspires and instills confidence. His approach to command placed particular importance on people, emphasizing the need to understand “human nature” completely. A leader who sees only the advantages of weapons and equipment while overlooking the inner strength of the human spirit can never be truly fit to lead.

Balzac once said, “The cleverest way to lead is to guide your subordinates toward achieving a dream that can never come true.” That way, those who join you in “making the dream come true” will gladly brave fire and water at your command. Even if you trample over their heads to get ahead, they’ll still regard you as a hero.
