A political deal made Yun Xi the second wife of Emperor Xiao Qi of the Great Qin. She planned to grow flowers, fish, enjoy the opera, and wait until the time was right to leave the palace and retire. Unfortunately, things did not go as planned. The emperor's childhood sweetheart, the Noble Consort, and the ministers kept giving her trouble, forcing Yun Xi to fight back. The emperor's harem grew emptier, familiar faces at court grew fewer, the borders of Great Qin expanded, and the people grew more prosperous... At last, the time was right, and the emperor finally approved her resignation.
