The Day I Died of Cancer

The day I died of cancer, he was celebrating his sweetheart’s birthday. I told him I felt unwell and wanted him to stay with me, but he said I was being dramatic and looking for trouble. That night, his stomach trouble flared up. Unable to find his medicine, he called me. “Where did you put the medicine? My stomach hurts, and I can’t find it.” My best friend choked on her tears. “When you’re in pain, you know to call her. But when she was dying and wanted to see you one last time, you wouldn’t even go.”
