This book mainly records all aspects of the lives of the lower class people living in Suzhou's Pantong Alley, focusing on the three representative families of Wu, Qiao and Zhang. The time span is from before and after liberation to the period of reform and opening up. With the changes in the social system and the changes in "houses", wealthy landowners have become civilians, and civilians have squeezed into the not-so-wide crotch alley. Things about the house became more and more tense. During this period, some people made a fortune by fishing in troubled waters, some encountered misfortune, and some escaped from danger. The common people in Crotch Alley each had their own ideas and eventually went their separate ways, while the die-hard conservatives still clung to the dilapidated Crotch Alley, looking forward to far-fetched construction plans, institutional changes, housing demolition and distribution...

The Wu dialect is very colloquial, and realistically expresses the people and things in the alleys of Suzhou. Although the writing date is far from the present, it vividly expresses the trivial things in the alleys of Suzhou at that time, and it is very historical.
This book is very interesting! It is not like ordinary books that only write about emperors, generals, talents and beauties. Instead, it focuses on ordinary people, allowing us to see the lives of ordinary people. This reminds me of "Water Margin", which also writes about various little characters. I think this kind of book is more real and can better understand the society of that era.
Not bad, not bad, close to life.
There probably won't be a book like this nowadays.
Good book 👍🏻 I am fascinated by listening to it, I am fascinated by reading it, I am drunk and drunk 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
