Synopsis

Knife creditors first appeared during the Song dynasty. Their founder was Guiguzi, and back then they were called fortune-telling vendors. They would tell fortunes for people while selling household goods such as scissors, kitchen knives, and sickles.

The knife creditors’ prophecies: rivers will turn red; houses will stand empty; fields will go untended; and everyone in every household will be as if imprisoned.
