[The synopsis is a mess. Please read Chapter One.]
[This is an alternate-history story set in a collapsed Eastern world.]
From the Rocky Mountains to Huangyan Island and then to the East European Plain, everything had fallen under imperialist control. The Asian dragon clenched the rising sun in its talons.
From the far ends of the Americas, crowned cowboys wielded ivory-and-gold revolvers, riding black warhorses as they ran amok.
Amid the storms of Northern Europe, Viking pirates stood aboard their longships, their wary, greedy eyes searching for their next target.
In the ancient cities of Western Europe, impeccably dressed legion commanders, red crowns on their heads and spears and banners in their hands, led armies of thousands along the Mediterranean coast. As the blue waves rolled, their banners snapped in the wind.
The alliance of kings formed by these four powers shaped the order of the world today, as well as the world of the past. This old order may continue to cast its shadow…
Meanwhile,
This world has never been short of strange technologies and rumors. Yet no one has ever cared where those strange tales from antiquity, modern urban legends, or scattered mentions in military files of technology far beyond its time came from.
But behind every child's nightmare lies a hidden truth. Many things the public believes to be false are real. Governments conceal them all, weighing their options and playing their games for the sake of control, technology, and countless other goals.
Among the things they discovered while exploring the veil of reality was Gensokyo, a refuge for monsters, or at least a refuge where monsters once lived.
