Reading a biography of Fengyun Moral reveals a panoramic view of the Western Han Dynasty.
A generous tragic song in life, a sincere young man can look forward to it.
One of the trilogy of novels written by King Hui of Liang in the Western Han Dynasty, and the sequel to "The Pavilion Chief Xiao Wu". Douban scores 7.8 Points as a classic and legendary work. It was revised and republished eleven years later, and the author added a preface to the reprint.
The protagonist Yingqi, who was originally Xiao Wu's attendant, was promoted by chance after Xiao Wu's death, got involved in Bo Yun's treacherous political struggle, and retired to seclusion after several twists and turns. In the fourth year of Zhenghe, Emperor Wu thought that the prince was rebellious, so he defeated the prince's army on the day of the decree, and the prince committed suicide. Jing Zhaoyin Shen Wu, who was helping the prince, jumped off a cliff and committed suicide. Shen Wu's follower Ying Qi and others were arrested and then pardoned. Yingqi returned to his hometown of Yuzhang County. Because he competed with Yan Changnian, the son of Yan Lecheng, a wealthy man in the city, for the affection of the county magistrate's sister Yujun, Yan Changnian committed suicide in public humiliation. Yan Lecheng hated Yingqi and vowed to repay his son. He bribed Zhao Guangguo, the governor of Yuzhang, and forced Yingqi's uncle Ying Qingji to death by using laws and regulations. He also confiscated Yingqi's family property, leaving Yingqi homeless.
The author uses the passion for artistic creation and rich artistic imagination to activate familiar Han Dynasty literature and classics, and uses elegant and simple language to successfully shape the typical life of a typical Han Dynasty figure. The ups and downs of his struggle reflect all aspects of Han Dynasty society.
There is the pain of labor as "a gentleman is in service and does not know the time limit"; there is also the leisure interest of farming as "the border is the basis of management, and it is the declaration of the acres"; there is the joy of marriage "there are locust trees in the south, and the grass is tired";
Inside and outside Taoyuan, up and down the palace, drums and harps are in harmony. From Nanchang to Chang'an, to Chang'an, and then to Zhangye, where the foreign language is heard outside the Great Wall... The eyes of the proud young man were gradually filled with bones. The adventures and conspiracies of love and hate along the way sapped his high spirits.
The plot structure twists and turns thousands of times, the characters are deeply portrayed, and the ups and downs of love, hatred, and resentment in each of us add up to the legendary life of Yingqi.

This book touched me deeply. It shows a real and complex society of the Western Han Dynasty. Yingqi's story made me understand that life is impermanent and we need to cherish the present moment. Just like what is said in the book, "A gentleman is in battle and does not know his future." We must seize every opportunity and strive to pursue our dreams. At the same time, this book also made me feel the weight of history, as if I could see the lives of people of that era in and outside the palace. The author's writing skills are very deep, and the plot has ups and downs, which is endlessly memorable.
I like Shi Jiepeng's novels very much. His narration makes readers feel as if they are in a real scene, especially the expression of language and the accumulation of historical knowledge. While reading the novel, people can imagine the scenes in front of them and present them one by one. Like it 👍🏻
