You Are My Other Soul

The Spirit Clan in the Three Realms is divided into five great Soul Fragments and two great Spirits. The two are mutually sustaining yet opposing forces.

The Seven Spirits live together to protect humankind. Each of the five Soul Fragments has its own Spirit Lord and Spirit Clan disciples, corresponding to the five elements of metal, wood, water, fire, and earth. For thousands of years, they have guarded the five cities of humankind, while the two great Spirits serve as the spiritual bonds that maintain balance among the Three Realms.

The Demon Clan covets the Spirit Clan’s power and dreams of unifying the Three Realms. It constantly disrupts human society and steals the spiritual consciousness of Spirit Clan members living among humans to nourish its young demons.

Over time, war between the Spirit Clan and the Demon Clan became inevitable. During the war, the demons used underhanded methods to seize the two great Spirits, then infused them with demonic spirits they had prepared long in advance. The two forces fused and were refined into the “Netherfire Glaze.” Born as twins, they complement each other and together became the “Chaos Spiritual Power,” capable of suppressing the Spirit Clan.

The war left both sides badly wounded, and the two clans signed a century-long pact not to invade human territory during that time.

Thousands of years ago, humans and the Spirit Clan shared a common origin. When a spiritual consciousness dissipates, it can transform into a spiritual artifact, preserving part of that consciousness. Thus, humans have understood for generations that objects they possess from birth are touchstones capable of leading them to the Spirit Clan. They also believe this is another choice made by fate.

The only destination for the spiritual consciousness of Spirit Clan members throughout the ages, once it dissipates, is to scatter among humans. It may reincarnate alongside a spiritual consciousness as a human infant with a spiritual root, or directly inhabit a human body. In either case, the consciousness has yet to awaken; some are born carrying a “spiritual artifact,” waiting for their spiritual consciousness to awaken.

The Su family’s young lady, Su Man, and Xiao Chu, the Sixth Prince left behind by the former dynasty’s emperor, are the “chosen ones” destined to restore the Three Realms and summon back the scattered spiritual consciousnesses.
