Everyone has a substitute for death. Either they die or you do; to the Grim Reaper, there's no difference. All you have to do is offer him a life on time. The thing the Grim Reaper hates most is humans who serve his rival, and he'll stop at nothing to torment them.
Ling Yuan is the orphaned daughter of a former underworld boss. She accidentally becomes the “ringleader” of a bullying incident and meets police officer Mo Shen. Mo Shen covers for Ling Yuan once, and she starts to fall for him.
Mo Shen is killed during a mission. Before passing on, he learns that Ling Yuan is his substitute for death and resolves to trade his life for hers over the course of seven days.
Sima Cuo is Ling Yuan's childhood friend, and his love for her is obsessive. Ling Yuan wants to escape her current life for Mo Shen's sake, but instead she is badly injured. Sima Cuo watches her drown in the swimming pool.
Ling Yuan's resentment refuses to fade. Her true nature as a gangster's daughter comes to the fore, and she moves the Grim Reaper, who sends her back in time in the body of a classmate who was bullied. From there, she begins taking revenge on everyone else.
