The Supreme Princess Consort

“Why should those who came later surpass me?” the voice accused.

“Why, after all these years of loving you...”

“Can you just say you don’t love me anymore?”

“What first love? What beloved? What a joke!”

“All those vows of eternal love were lies!” he laughed maniacally.

“I’ll make you watch with your own eyes as the person you love is tortured to death by my hand.”

“And watch as she begs you for help, while you can do nothing but look on as I cut away, piece by piece, the flesh you once caressed. Whenever midnight comes and you wake from your dreams...” he said, each word sinister and deranged.

“Your mind will be filled with her screams and the sight of her disfigured face. Ha ha!” He leaned close to the man’s face. Seeing his furious glare, the man shouted, “You’re insane! Insane! You’re a lunatic!”

Then she reached for her long sword, intending to slash his face, while he clutched his own sword and leaped into the air. They rose together, blades flashing. Just as they were about to strike each other, she turned her sword around, and both blades plunged straight into their own bodies. Blood spilled from their mouths. He caught her swaying, collapsing body, panic-stricken. Blood seeped from the corner of her mouth as she said in agony, “At last... at last... I’ve repaid my debt.” He cried out in anguish, “No... no... no... Get up! You still haven’t told me who it was that night. How could you die like this?”
