My Years in the World of the Living

The moment I was born, my parents died. Everyone in the village said I was a cursed loner, born to bring ruin to my whole family.

Ever since I was old enough to remember, the villagers would say “Bad luck” whenever they saw me. Even the children took pleasure in bullying me, but that stopped after Grandma visited the village chief’s house.

I thought my life would stay peaceful like that forever.

Until the day I turned nineteen.

Grandma took me to a place I had never been before. That was when I learned that I was destined to establish a spirit altar and walk between the worlds of the living and the dead.

In other words, I was destined to become what people commonly call a Chuma disciple.
