This book is very Zhang Ailing's style, the story and characters are described in detail. I particularly like the fifth wife in "The Resentful Girl". Although she fills in a house, she has a tenacious character that is admirable. And Zhang Ailing's depiction of the fate of women in that era is really resonant. Just like the fifth wife, she is still working hard to live even if her fate is strange. All in all, this is a book well worth reading.
