This book contains more than 30 articles by Liu Shen Leilei on reading Tang poetry, spanning four hundred years of history from the end of the Northern and Southern Dynasties to the Tang Dynasty. It follows the trajectory of the Early Tang, the High Tang, the Middle Tang, and the Late Tang, but does not stick there. The author closely follows the history of the Tang Dynasty, adds rich details, and narrates the poets as living people. He also creatively breaks the limitations of time and space, and makes it easy and interesting for everyone to see.

I love this book so much! Liushen Leilei's writing is so interesting. He makes Tang poetry and poets come alive, just like watching a costume drama! I especially like his interpretation of Du Fu, which allowed me to see that Du Fu was not only a poet with "great suffering and hatred", but also a person of flesh and blood. Moreover, Liushen Leilei was so thoughtful when writing this book. It feels like he really loves Tang poetry. This book gave me a new understanding of Tang poetry, and it also made me like Tang poetry even more!
