Moreover, I think the characters in the book are very real, and their actions and thoughts are very human. Especially Jimmy, whose contradictions and struggles really resonated with me. I think of Ryoji Kirihara in "White Night Walk". They are both people wandering in the darkness. However, "Mystic River" focuses more on showing the complexity of human nature rather than simple crime and reasoning. Overall, this is a good book worth reading.
