A Woman at Forty Is in Full Bloom

The story begins with the childhood of its protagonist, Lin Yuling. It follows her struggles with school as a child and how the college entrance exam changed her life, from workplace grudges to the ups and downs of the business world, from the comforts of ordinary life to working as a nanny during the pandemic... Beginning in the 1980s, the story spans rural urbanization, the rise and fall of the real estate industry, and the conflicts triggered by reform of state-owned enterprises. It covers major events in a small city during this period, including the history of its rural credit cooperative and a shocking case that took place there, loan fraud in the financial sector, the stories of small-city shops, and the fate of families who once had ten thousand yuan to their name... It tells the stories of ordinary people during the pandemic and shows how hard their lives were. Life is like a dream, and women are like flowers: they bloom and fade, and in the end, all is empty.
