In the northwest region, there is a remote small village called Fanjialou, located at the foot of a mountain. The mountain is shaped like a bat, so people call it Bat Mountain.
Grandpa Fan was lying on the rocking chair, shaking the cattail leaf fan, and telling such a legend to his only grandson. A long time ago, there was a river at the foot of Bat Mountain, where the food that the villagers relied on for survival was grown. But at night, swarms of bats would fly down from the mountains and harm the crops, leaving the people with no harvest and miserable misery.
Later, an old Taoist priest passed by Fanjialou and told the villagers that there were bat spirits at work. As long as a Lingguan temple was built on the top of the mountain, these bats could be suppressed. The villagers spent several months before a Lingguan temple appeared on the top of Bat Mountain...
The story is compact and worth watching
