1. Ye Shuang dies unexpectedly and wakes up inside a book. She's not the female lead, nor the vicious second female lead. She's just a cannon-fodder supporting character.
The book tells the story of a poor-born male lead who schemes his way to becoming a powerful minister. In her original life, Ye Shuang was his early fiancée. After he passed the imperial exams and became a top scholar, he callously abandoned her. Unable to accept it, she went straight to the capital, where she happened to see him marrying the Prime Minister's daughter. In a fit of rage, she ran to block the wedding procession, was dragged aside, and beaten to death with clubs.
Now, Ye Shuang sits on a wooden stool, looking at the frail child before her, and smiles. She has a child and a home, so why go looking for a scumbag? She's always been easygoing and knows when to adapt to circumstances.
From then on, Ye Shuang takes on her ridiculous relatives and bullies, earning money with her right hand and holding a child in her left. She devotes herself to raising her younger brother, hoping to have someone to rely on when she grows old.
But dreams are lovely, while reality is harsh. Five years later, the high-born second male lead from the book, whom she had impulsively rescued, and the male lead, who had returned to take office in Taihe County for some unknown reason, keep hovering around her. Then there's her younger brother, whose age doesn't match his appearance and who grows more mysterious by the day, often saying things to her that seem to mean something more...
She looks up at the sky, feeling utterly miserable. She only wanted to live a quiet life until old age, but apparently even that is impossible.
2. On the day little Ye Jin turns ten, memories suddenly appear in his mind. In them, his sister dies young, and he is forced to wander until a group of people take him away, claiming he is the heir of Prince Rui. In the end, his hands stained with blood, he becomes the regent, second only to The Outcast. A glimmer of darkness passes through his eyes. He turns to look at the person on the bed, sewing clothes for him, and smiles faintly. This life will be different.
Ye Jin and Ye Shuang are not biological siblings. Ye Jin's apparent age does not match his actual age.
It's great, the plot is tight, and I really like the heroine's character.
Not bad, the heroine is calm and majestic, which makes it more comfortable to read.
Is it okay to read when I'm short of books?
