Synopsis

"The Bell Jar" is the only novel written by the American "confessional" poet Sylvia Plath in her short life, and is regarded as one of the classics of modern American literature. This book reminded me of a friend of mine who was also wavering between love and career. The portrayal of the heroine's heart in the book is very real and made me empathize with her. Just like the heroine's fear of death and confusion about life after seeing the news of the execution of the Rosenbergs, I have also experienced it. Moreover, the description of summer in New York in the book is also very graphic, making me feel as if I was actually there. Overall, this is a very good book and worth reading.
