[Not a rebirth story + wits and courage + love and rivalry + selected elements of the main plot retained]
[Canon couples stay together + characters remain true to their original personalities + doing our best to avoid OOC]
[Neither the main nor supporting characters are vilified or whitewashed]
Inspired by a clip I came across recently of Yongqi and Xinrong consummating their marriage. He treated her as if she were (or perhaps imagined she was) Xiaoyanzi, so he could report back to Consort Yu.
Imagine this: if their souls were switched, would Yongqi recognize Xiaoyanzi in Xinrong's body and voice?
Told mainly from Xiaoyanzi's perspective, with Qing'er and Xiao Jian as a secondary storyline. Their mutual devotion is such a joy to read!
Content warning: Xinrong fans and canon detail enthusiasts, proceed with caution.
The author's writing style is really good. In my opinion, although Little Yanzi loves to get into trouble, he is always positive. So many people say that Madonna Ziwei forgets that kindness is not wrong. No protagonist is completely perfect. What I appreciate most about the author is that he can discover and recognize the shining points in Little Yanzi. He portrays the relationship between Little Yanzi and Ziwei in a real, delicate and touching way. The sequence in which everyone discovers the truth after the soul exchange is actually the most reasonable. Every plot in the article is well thought out and most appropriate to the character. I have read many novels adapted from "Xin Huan Zhu", but I felt that the writing style was very immature and did not match the characters of the original drama. In contrast, the logic of this novel is very clear and reasonable, and the characterization and emotional portrayal are really delicate. I like this kind of novel that doesn't tear down the CP of the original drama and doesn't magically change it. Nowadays, there are too many novels that maliciously target the protagonist group. Many characters have been changed in a mess and are extremely unreasonable. It makes people feel that they are no longer the original people. If the author keeps writing, more people will definitely like it, so stay tuned!
It looks good, but I still want Xiao Yanzi and Xinrong to change their souls. I hope Xiao Yanzi and Yong Qi can be happy!
Author, when will they change back?
