Bo Xing is a little mermaid hidden among humans. All he wanted was to be a hardworking mermaid, earn money diligently, and buy dried fish to feed himself. But then the zombie virus struck, the apocalypse broke out, and human civilization collapsed. As he was on the verge of death after saving someone, Bo Xing discovered that he was a sacrificial extra in an apocalypse novel about a universally adored protagonist. The protagonist's love interest was the researcher Fang Huaian, who would cut him into pieces.
In the original story, the little mermaid Bo Xing was a sacrifice in the protagonist's quest to save the world. Because mermaid genes had the miraculous ability to purify the virus, he was imprisoned and subjected to endless torment. After his usefulness was drained, the little mermaid died miserably on New Year's Eve, while humanity ushered in a new era thanks to the successful development of an antiviral serum.
Now that he knew what fate had in store for him, Bo Xing packed his bags and scrambled back to the deep sea, determined never to set foot on land again.
