Legend has it that there was once a highly skilled swordsman in the martial world, known as the Six-Blade Slayer. The Ice-Shattering Six Techniques he invented consisted of just six moves. They say no one ever witnessed his sixth move, because everyone who did died. Using his self-created sword art, he went undefeated throughout the South. Yet his hands were stained with the blood of many innocents: whenever he killed an opponent, he wiped out the whole family, leaving no survivors to pose a threat. At the same time, he would never harm anyone unrelated to his conflicts, and often fought evil and upheld justice. He was, in a word, a man who was both righteous and wicked.
For reasons unknown, he suddenly vanished from the martial world. No one knew where he had gone. Some said he knew his sins were too great and had become a monk; others said he was dead; still others claimed he had married, had children, and retired from the martial world for their sake. There were all kinds of stories, but no one knew the truth. The only thing known was that his final battle was an epic showdown with Shangguan Jian, the Southern Sword God. In the end, the Southern Sword God lost his right arm and admitted defeat to Liu Yidao. But Shangguan Jian never said whether he had seen Liu Yidao’s sixth move. Having lost his right arm, the Southern Sword God was considered useless by everyone in the martial world, so no one would trouble a cripple.
