Battles in this story follow the style of the anime, while Pokemon abilities, moves, and types follow the games. Changes from one game generation to the next, including changes to what Pokemon can learn and to their types and traits, will be retained where appropriate as regional characteristics, rather than being updated across the board to match the latest games.

Overall, it's okay. I hope the author can read other Pokémon works written by other authors to learn from them and improve on some shortcomings.
