The great leader Comrade Mao Zedong loved Chinese history and was good at introducing and criticizing historical figures. He read "Twenty-Four Histories" and liked to read biographies. In the biographies, he paid special attention to reliable documents including "Shang Shu" and gave unique comments. Although many of these comments are examples, metaphors, and some are even phrases, they are thought-provoking and wise. They are a key for us to read and study history, and are also a precious cultural heritage for understanding Mao Zedong's thinking and behavior. Mr. Sheng Xunchang, after years of research, has compiled Comrade Mao Zedong's comments on Chinese historical figures, from Xuanyuan Huangdi to Sun Yat-sen, into this book. He strives to use easy-to-understand yet rigorous words to allow readers to gain a deeper understanding of this great people's leader who has a profound influence on Chinese history.
