Zeng Guofan (November 26, 1811 - March 12, 1872), originally named Zicheng, courtesy name Bohan, and nicknamed Disheng, was a politician, strategist, Neo-Confucian, writer, calligrapher in the late Qing Dynasty, and the leader of the Hunan Army armed by Han landlords in the late Qing Dynasty.
For several years, Wu Bian hated the military camp customs, and no one above the garrison level did not lose his conscience. Therefore, we decided not to use camps or generals.
Therefore, when he established the Hunan Army to recruit brave soldiers, he had to obtain a guarantee document and create a list of prefectures, counties, residences, parents, brothers, wives' names, and Ji Dou.
He purchased foreign guns, cannons, and ships to promote the modernization of Chinese military weapons.
Zeng Guofan moved seven times in ten years, established the Hunan Army, suppressed the rebels, captured Nanjing, pursued and suppressed the Nien Army, hosted the Westernization Movement, Tianjin Missionary Cases, and returned to Liangjiang. His great achievements were praised by later generations. He was named the first of the four famous officials in the late Qing Dynasty.
